Boquete is a small mountain town located in the Chiriquí Highlands of Panama, famous for its cool climate, green landscapes, coffee farms, and outdoor adventures. Unlike the hot tropical weather found in many parts of Panama, Boquete enjoys spring-like temperatures throughout most of the year.
Because Boquete sits approximately 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) above sea level, the temperatures are much cooler and more comfortable than destinations like Panama City or the Caribbean coast.
During the daytime, temperatures commonly range between 20°C and 27°C (68°F to 81°F), while evenings and early mornings can feel quite fresh, especially during the rainy season.
Boquete has two main seasons:
- Dry Season (December to April): Sunnier days, cooler nights, and lower humidity. This is considered one of the best times to visit.
- Green Season / Rainy Season (May to November): More clouds, lush vegetation, and regular afternoon rain showers. Rain usually comes in short periods rather than lasting all day.
The weather in Boquete is one of the main reasons why travelers, retirees, hikers, and coffee lovers visit the area. The cooler climate is ideal for activities such as hiking Volcán Barú, visiting coffee plantations, exploring waterfalls, and enjoying nature.
Even during warmer months, Boquete rarely experiences the intense heat common in lower-altitude tropical destinations.
